Ethics and Issues 11-1

Many people have a different way of performing certain task. I feel that you should perform the job accurately that you are hired for. I don't believe that people work harder while being observed. Work ethic to me is something that is learned and can be perfected.

The Hawthorne Effect however, has proved differently. This study showed employees perform their jobs above and beyond while being knowingly observed. I feel that while such study is important to companies for accurately recorded data or increased productivity, however, I think such routine can enable people with natural work ethic be overlooked.

I can't say I disagree with the data gathering techniques that increases productivity during observation, however, I do feel people should be responsible for conducting and achieving what is expected of them anyway in a work place.

Ethics & Issues

Today, in this real world, security is the main concern everywhere, whether considering professional or personal life. I think face recognition is an advanced stage of security. It is done to improve the matching quality. If a person gets scanned by the device once, he/she never scanned for the second time. This is perfect to identify murders, child abusers, and drug dealers. It captures different views of an individual from different location considering various looks and expressions of the individual. If I was ever detained on a mistake of the face recognition system, I will be outraged. After I am released, I will definitely seek an attorney and look foward to the reward.

E-Book Sharing

I selected this trend for two reasons. One is because I personally hate carrying big and heavy books around the campus, and the other is I think its more convenient for conserving time while you read as well. E-Book Sharing will be the popular trend in 2011 because the tablet eliminates battery anxiety with its month-long battery life while you read, and it has the advanced paper-like pearl e-ink display that reduces eye strain. It doesn't interfere with sleep patterns at bedtime, and works outside in direct sunlight, an important consideration, especially for vacation reading. These are all positive things to consider your decision to purchase this cool app for the new year.

Security:

I specifically chose "Security" because personally I feel it is important even for your home, school, job or just overall well being. Having security for the Internet is essential as well. Military and/or the President administration conduct private sessions and meetings that may have pertinent information about the war and secret strategies to contain it. So when asked, how can private information and sensitive communications be kept from eavesdroppers?. I'd say one remedy could be to create passwords that are extremely limited to certain personnel and be changed often. In my search, I learned about encryption technology and how it scrambles messages sent over wireless networks so that they cannot be easily read by humans. This would make it difficult for the eavesdroppers to be effective as well.

"What i hope to get out of CSI 112 this semester"

I hope to gain more knowledge about technology. I have never been a computer savy person so this will all be a challenge for me. I am looking forward to a learning about the different networks, components of the system units, storage and how they all work. I am ready to broaden my horizons.
